What do common GenAI terms mean?
Eight terms you will meet in every GenAI course, with what each one means and what you actually do with it.
GenAI, short for generative AI, uses models such as large language models (LLMs) to create text, images or code by predicting the next token. Practical GenAI work depends on the context window (how much the model can read at once), temperature (how varied the output is), structured outputs, retrieval from your own documents (RAG) and testing for hallucinations. Computer Education And Cybernetics (CEC) in Ahmedabad teaches GenAI in Python as part of its AI path.
Generative model / LLM
A model that creates new text, images or code. A large language model (LLM) does this for text, one token at a time.
Call one from Python and compare outputs on the same task
Prompt and system prompt
The prompt is the request. The system prompt sets fixed rules for every request, such as tone or format.
Write a system prompt and test it on 20 inputs
Context window
The maximum amount of text the model can read in one request, counted in tokens. Anything beyond it is cut off or rejected.
Split long documents so nothing is lost
Temperature
A setting for randomness. Low gives steady, repeatable answers; high gives more varied ones.
Keep it low for extraction, higher for drafting ideas
Structured output
Asking for answers in a fixed format such as JSON, so code can use them.
Define the fields and validate every answer
Embeddings and RAG
Embeddings turn text into numbers that capture meaning. RAG uses them to find relevant passages from your documents and give them to the model.
Build a small question-answer tool over your own notes
Hallucination
A confident answer that is wrong or made up. It happens because the model predicts likely text, not checked facts.
Catch it with a test set of known answers
Agent
A setup where the model plans steps and calls tools, such as search or a calendar, to finish a task.
Connect one tool and limit what it may do
Practice task
Ask an AI assistant the same factual question five times. Then ask it to extract the date from the same sentence five times. Note which answers changed. That variation is what temperature and checking are about. What we do with you here: you repeat this in Python with the temperature set yourself.
What should a good GenAI course include?
Use this list to compare any GenAI course, including ours. If a course skips most of these, it is teaching a tool, not a skill.
- Python, so you can build with GenAI, not only chat with it
- How models generate text, explained without hype
- Prompting with a test set, not one lucky example
- Handling long documents within the context window
- Structured outputs that your code validates
- Using your own documents (RAG) and checking answers against them
- Evaluation: before-and-after scores for every change
- Projects you can rerun and explain in an interview

A worked example: the meeting summary that lost its ending
Context window, temperature, structured output and a multi-step workflow, in one everyday task.
The task
Summarise a two-hour meeting transcript into a list of decisions, each with an owner and a deadline.
First attempt
The whole transcript is pasted in one request. The summary looks neat but lists only 7 decisions. The meeting secretary’s notes show 12.
What you look at
All 7 decisions come from the first part of the meeting. The transcript was longer than the context window in this setup, so the end was silently cut off.
The workflow fix
Split the transcript into four parts with a small overlap. Summarise each part into the same fixed format (decision, owner, deadline) at low temperature. Merge the four lists and remove duplicates.
The check
Now all 12 decisions appear, but one owner is wrong: a part started mid-conversation, without the speaker’s name. Adding speaker names to the start of each part fixes it: 12 of 12 decisions, 12 of 12 owners.
What you write down
The part size and overlap, the output format, the temperature, the scores before and after, and the speaker-name fix, so the workflow works the same next week.

Where is GenAI heading?
Bigger inputs and longer chains of steps. Checking matters more as both grow. What we do with you here: every workflow you build has a test set from day one.
Context windows keep growing
Newer models read much longer documents in one go. Long inputs still need checking, because models can overlook details buried in the middle.
GenAI is moving into workflows and agents
Instead of one prompt and one answer, GenAI is increasingly a chain of steps with tools. Designing and testing those steps is becoming the core skill.
Where GenAI still fails
- It does not warn you when part of a long input was cut off
- It merges or invents details, such as the wrong owner for a task
- It cannot tell you its own accuracy without a test set
GenAI is changing as context windows grow and as single prompts give way to multi-step workflows and agents that use tools. Long inputs can still hide missed details, so the lasting skills are splitting and structuring work, fixing output formats, and checking results against known answers. Computer Education And Cybernetics (CEC) teaches GenAI workflows with a test set from the first project.

Questions about GenAI courses
What is a GenAI course?
A course on generative AI: how models such as LLMs create text, and how to use them well with prompting, context, structured outputs and workflows. At Computer Education And Cybernetics (CEC), GenAI is taught in Python as part of the AI path.
What is the difference between GenAI and generative AI?
None. GenAI is simply the short form of generative AI. Our generative AI course page covers the subject in more depth, including tool use and evaluation.
What is a context window?
The maximum text a model can read in one request, counted in tokens. In our example, a long meeting transcript was cut off, so only 7 of 12 decisions appeared until the transcript was split into parts.
What does temperature do?
It controls how varied the output is. Low temperature gives steady, repeatable answers, which suits extraction and summaries. Higher temperature suits brainstorming.
What is RAG?
Retrieval-augmented generation: finding relevant passages from your own documents and giving them to the model, so answers come from your material rather than its general training.
What should a good GenAI course include?
Python, how models generate text, prompting with test sets, handling long documents, structured outputs, using your own documents, evaluation, and projects you can rerun and explain.
Do I need coding to learn GenAI?
To use chat tools, no. To build workflows that split documents, validate outputs and measure results, yes. We teach the Python you need.
How does CEC help me learn GenAI?
Through workflow projects with real test sets, about 80% practical, guided by our 25+ full-time trainers. We stay with you until you get a job, based on your performance in training, projects and interviews.
Where can I join a GenAI course in Ahmedabad?
At CEC’s Maninagar, Nikol and Vatva centres. We warmly welcome you and your parents to visit your nearest centre for counseling and admission. Learning from outside Ahmedabad? We guide you on a counseling call and complete your admission online. Call +91 75740 10176 or WhatsApp us with any question.
